Zimbabwe is expected to continue receiving heavy rains as the country was going through a rough time many years ago with episodic rains falling and leading to drought. Heavy rains are expected to continue pouring in the northern parts of Zimbabwe.

This comes at a time as the meterological department has predicted, and this is of great joy to many farmers who are expecting bumper harvest in this season.

Meteorological Services Department  forecaster Mr Tich Zinyemba, yesterday alluded  that the forecast was valid for the next coming days.

“Northern parts of the country are forecast to continue experiencing moderate to heavy thunderstorms. These are Mashonaland provinces, Harare Metropolitan Province, Midlands Province as well as northern parts of Manicaland Province. The rest of the country, expects rain and drizzle,” he said.

The Met Department  reminded the masses that they should remain alert for flash floods in low lying areas, hail and damaging winds. Safety precautions have been made available for areas which are likely to receive heavy rains which would result in flooding.

“Motorists are urged to be extra careful when driving on wet roads that will be potentially slippery,” said the Met Department.People have been encouraged not to cross flooded rivers as this would be a huge risk on their lives. Villagers in areas receiving high rainfall have been encouraged to practise safety measures and to avoid drowning.
