Youths from different organisations gathered in the city of Bulawayo to celebrate #16days of Activism against gender violence. Youths from as far as Gwanda, Harare came together under one cause to pave way forward and look for solutions to eradicate gender based violence (GBV).

 

Activists from Bulawayo celebrated this day at Homestead in Bulawayo, in a enlightening, informative session, where a 40minute  documentary on gender based violence was screened, this documentary  focused on the causes of GBV and what can be done to stop gender based violence. It was a colourful afternoon as each youth was clad in black tshirts with a clear message #16days safe spaces for girls will end GBV and some caried the message #16days Access to services will end GBV.

Among the organisations represented was Dotyouth Zimbabwe,Youths for Innovation Trust, Action Aid Zimbabwe, Youths engaged each other on how to eradicate Gender based violence and what are youths currently doing to solve the issue of gender based violence. Different innovative sentiments were echoed by the youths as they sort to find ways to stop Gender Based Violence.

Entertainment for the day came from the renowned multi talented poet, singer, actor, author, Bhekumusa Moyo who recited poems on Gender Based Violence leaving many youths humming and excited about taking the next step to stop (GBV) .Sharing the stage with him was the award winning Djembe Monks which thrilled the crowd with awesome #16drum beats celebrating 16days of Activism of no violence against women and children.
