MyBulawayo managed to catch with the Cricket Legend Heath Streak. Here is what he had to say about who Heath Streak is,his love for cricket and how he manages to balance family and cricket.

1) Describe Heath streak in 3 words
Determined, fun ,loyal

2) How and when did you fall in love with the game of cricket?
From when I could walk..my father played for Zimbabwe so was born into cricket!

3) You were quite an all-round sportsman in school, making Zim U19 rugby; how did you decide on cricket as a career path?
There was no professional rugby in Zimbabwe in 1993 so I decided to try cricket career which I had dreamt of from early age.

4) Tell us about your most memorable moment of your cricket career
Equal between first Test win for Zimbabwe vs Pakistan and beating South Africa in 1999 World Cup

5) What are you currently focusing on or involved in?
I’m coaching Bangladesh and Gujarat Lions in IPL as Bowling Coach

6) Are you involved in any social responsibility projects
I am associated with a charity working to support kids from slums in Dhaka, Bangladesh to go to school. Plus we building a Primary school on our farm so our local kids don’t have to walk 7kms to school.

7) How do you balance cricket and family
Very tough…spend lots of time away but good thing is when I’m back I spend quality time with them. It’s hardest part of being in cricket! !!

8) What advice would you give to upcoming sports women and men ?
Work hard and NEVER give up on your dream…

9) What’s your formula for success
Failure is not an option… victory comes to those who persevere the longest

10) What was the main motivation and purpose for old mutual Heath streak academy?
Bulawayo is always neglected, I wanted our kids to have a World class Academy to develop their skills and represent Zimbabwe.

11) What can we look forward to from you in 2016?
I hope I can bring success to Gujarat Lions and Co tinge to evolve as a Coach, parent and husband.
