Many Zimbabweans across the country have fallen into fast making schemes to survive. The economic downturn of the country has led to the creation of these ponzo schemes. These schemes include the most talk about on social media is the (MMM), grow your money online in 25days, be a millionaire from $50. All these schemes have left Zimbabweans clutching thin air while others have been taken by storm and engaged into these schemes to try their luck as their long trusted jobs have been not paying them for months.

Loans for civil servants have flocked the social media as well, as a way to help the civil servants to alleviate the debts they have thrown themselves into, speaking to a teacher in the city of Bulawayo concerning these loans she says “ I have not received my salary for months now , I just received the message notification that my salary has come into my account but my bank has no cash hence the loans have come in handy” these loans have high interests rates yet due to the economic situation of the country there is other choice” exclaimed one civil servant.

MMM was founded by Mavro a Russian who has been in courts and out, who has been in prison for fraud and other fraudulent schemes for many years. This scheme is found in many nations including South Africa were it was frozen recently and many people lost their money, Zimbabwe and other nations.

The MMM money making scheme had many Zimbabweans screaming its name till recent when all accounts had been frozen due to high demand of people asking for help from other users hence it was frozen until the 15th of September 2016. The social media was abuzz once more as people thought they had lost their money. Speaking to the guider of the MMM in Bulawayo he had this to say “ I have benefitted a lot from the MMM scheme I have bought two mini taxis with the money”

People have invested a lot of money into this scheme trying to survive, some have went on to put $1000 which they have not claimed from the MMM account as it has been frozen. Speaking to other MMM participants about this scheme and the freezing of the scheme. Many raised concerns that they fear losing their money.

Many people have seen this economic crunch as a way of milking thousands of people off their money. Jobs have been offered at a price yet they have not been hired. People are, made to pay huge sums of money to acquire jobs and places at schools and many have been left clutching thin air. Who should be blamed for these gimmicks that have invaded the native land
