Residents in the city of Bulawayo have expressed their anger and concerns to the city council over the prolonged water shedding which was initially pegged at 48hours later on being changed to 72hours. People are all over the city carrying buckets looking for water.

In a statement released by the City of Bulawayo yesterday they expressed their apologies to the residents of Bulawayo. ” the city of Bulawayo would like to apolosize to the residents of Bulawayo for the Non -adherence to water shedding schedule which was released during the month of October ”

speaking to the residents of Bulawayo in Luveve 4 surburb who were queing at a community borehole , expressed their anger to the city council and raised concerns of the city turning into a healthy hazard. “we have been here since morning looking for water in this borehole, it is slow and there are many people” echoed an elderly woman from the surburb. People could be seen all over the city walking with their buckets looking for any running water.

Public kombis going to town could be spotted also with buckets on , as people continue to search for water in the city. according to the city council authorities the 48 hour water shedding schedule has been extended to 72hours.

Bulawayo City Council wishes to advise residents that there has been a slight change in the water shedding schedule from 48hours to 72hours a week as shown inb the table above:

This is a bid to try and conserve the water and be able to manage the limited resources and declinning dam levels.

PLEASE CONSERVE WATER, EVERY DROP COUNTS!

Although all attempts will be made to stick to the schedule, it is subject to change without notice in cases of emergency and operational challenges

Residents are encouraged to ensure that tapes are tightly closed at all times
