The life of a vendor has come under heavy scrutiny as the Bulawayo city council police continue to remove them from their vending areas, some have lost their vegetables and fruits they are selling. its the cat and dog situation between the vendors and the Bulawayo City Council police.

” we survive through selling and if we are being chased every minute how shall we survive” alludes one angry old mother holding her tomatoes in a cardboard taking cover from the Bulawayo city council police. It is reported that the Bulawayo City Council was taking measures to remove vendors from the streets of Bulawayo after the Harare city council removed the vendors in their streets and they relocated to the city of Bulawayo causing commotion and pollution in the city.

According to the Bulawayo city council senior Public relations officer Nesisa Mpofu ” we had to do something to reduce the commotion from the vendors who had been chased from Harare to  settle in Bulawayo” she spoke this while addressing civic society  organizations workshop which was held in Bulawayo a few weeks ago highlighting the problems faced by these organisations in Bulawayo.

she went on to emphasise that the residents of Bulawayo need to be aware that the council is not fighting against vendors in Bulawayo but trying to find good working relations with the residents of Bulawayo.  residents were further encouraged to pay up their water bills to enable full functioning of the city council and also to attend council meetings and know what is happening in and around the city of Bulawayo.
