The late legendary actor Joe Mafela’s family wanted his memorial to be held at Grace Bible Church in Pimville, Soweto, but after they contacted the church they were shocked with how much the church charged and so had to look for an alternative venue for the memorial.

“We visited the Joe Mafela home last night to pay our respects. I was shocked to learn that Grace Bible Church wanted a fee of R89,000 for the memorial. When the head pastor (Musa) Sona was consulted, he offered a R10k discount. Needless to say there was no deal as this was totally ridiculous. This is supposed to be a ‘house of God’ serving the community,” wrote actor Mangaliso Ngema on his social media earlier to comment on a meeting between the family and the church.

After the news of the charge broke out, social media lost it’s chill and as usual went in on the subject. Here’s how social media reacted;
